Miller’s Neighborhood Market and
Hampton Roads Magazine present the
2007 Convenience Store Cook Off
On May 14, 2007, five Hampton Roads chefs had up to $25 and 25 minutes in the Miller’s Neighborhood Market convenience store at Old Dominion University and were asked to prepare a world-class entrée and dessert.
And they did. Really.
Miller’s Neighborhood Market picked up the chef’s in an SUV Limousine and transported them to our store near ODU. There the chefs shopped creatively for ingredients to create a gourmet entrée and dessert.
Their baskets were filled with a fascinating selection of products: fresh and canned food, Fun Buns Bakery items, packaged goods, and their favorite “junk” foods! We’re talking about all their guilty pleasures: chewing tobacco (say what???), Vienna sausage, potato chips, Slim Jims, Twinkies, Hershey bars, Chick O Sticks, and Spam to name a few.
Then back to the Tidewater Community College kitchen for the big Cook Off. The judges, onlookers, and staff were breathless with anticipation.
